Description:
Bill or "Frock", as many call him, originally founded US Regional Soccer Association in 1995, which then became Charlotte United FC in 2000. Charlotte United is the largest competitive soccer organization in the greater Charlotte area. While running the program, Frock remains active in coaching and training Charlotte United teams. He has achieved his USSF National Goalkeeping and USSF A Licenses.
Frock has had numerous accomplishments in the coaching arena. He is currently the Mens Varsity Coach for Providence Day School, where he has been since 1990. During his tenure, Frock has led his teams to four State Championships, two State Finals and two State Semi-Finals. His Providence day teams have earned eight Conference Championships and were recognized in the NSCAA National Top Twenty-Five (#17) in 1997 and the NSCAA South Region rank of #7 in 1998 and #6 in 1999. Prior to Providence Day, Frock was the Varsity Coach at Charlotte Catholic HS where his teams earned two State Championships and five Conference Championships.
On the field, Frock was a goalkeeper at Erskine College earning All Conference, All South and All American NAIA Goalkeeper honors. Moving to Clemson University, his teams won the ACC Championship and achieved the NCAA Final Four two years in a row. Upon graduation, he played professionally for the Pennsylvania Stoners, winning the American Soccer League Championship in 1980. He then moved to the Carolina Lightnin', where they won the American Soccer League Championship in 1981.

Description:
Grant joined Charlotte United in 2007, after returning to the Queen city following successful undergraduate, graduate and coaching experiences. Grant started his soccer career at Providence Day School, where he earned All-American and North Carolina State Player of the Year Awards. He was recruited by and attended UNC - Chapel Hill where he won an ACC Championship in 2000, was awarded the Nicholas Douglass Potter Coaches' Award in 2001, won a National Championship in 2001, was voted team MVP and appointed captain in 2003. Grant also was an ACC Honor Roll Member and erceived the 2004 UNC Athletic Directors Scholar Athlete Award. Upon graduation from Chapel Hill with a BA in Economics, Grant continued his education at Georgia State University, where he earned a Masters in Sports Administration.
Grant's coaching career has included coaching youth soccer with the Chicago Fire Juniors SC (Chicago, IL), California Legends SC (Santa Barbara, CA) and Forsyth Fusion SC (Atlanta, GA). In the college ranks, he was Head Assistant Men's Varsity Coach at Georgia State University and Men's Assistant Coach at University of California Santa Barbara, where the team acheived a top 25 rank.
Grant has his USSF "A" Coaching license, earned in 2008, and has served on the Region IV Olympic Development Program (ODP) staff.

Description:
Bryan joined Charlotte United in 2005. Bryan came to the United States in 1990 and settled with his family in Milwaukee, WI. From 1990 - 1993, he was the Director of Coaching for the Milwaukee Kickers SC, a club with a soccer membership of nearly 10,000 players. From 1995 - 2002, Bryan was a staff coach for Region II ODP, During this tenure, he coached a Region II team to victory in Milan, Italy playing club eams such as Lazio, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Torino. From 1996 - 2001, Bryan was an Assistant Coach for the Marquette University Men's team. From 2001 - 2002, He was the Assistant Director of Coaching for the Wisconsin State Soccer Association. In 2002, Bryan moved to West Virginia, where he was the Director of Coaching for the West Virginia State Soccer Association.
Bryan has earned numerous qualifications, which include:

Neil joined forces with CUFC in 2004 after 12 years of coaching youth soccer in North Carolina. His career has focused mainly on the U10-U14 Age groups. In 2006, Neil led the 92 Gold team to the State Cup Final four. He then took the 92 Gold on CUFC’s 1st International trip to England where the team played games against Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Reading. His development of youth players has produced two national pool members and many North Carolina and Region III Olympic Development Program players.
Neil was born in Kenilworth, England where he had a successful schoolboy career in both soccer and basketball. His Soccer career included representing one of the most successful clubs in the country (Southam Town) and playing for the Mid Warwickshire Regional team as a sweeper & forward. His basketball career included county & region honors and playing for an England XI in Paris France.
His family moved to Charlotte in 1982 and Neil went to school at UNCC to play for legendary coach Bob Warming. A starting sweeper on the SunBelt Conference Championship team of 1983, Neil played every minute of the longest soccer game in NCAA history, a nine overtime win against Old Dominion in the Final.
Neil has earned a USSF C license.

Ray Fumo joins Charlotte United FC (CUFC) after serving as a Director of Coaching for the former Charlotte Soccer Club. Ray will work with and oversee the U11 - U12 boys and girls classic age groups. Ray’s experiences as a player and a coach will help develop the technical ability of CUFC’s younger players as they grow and transition into the 11v11 aspects of the game at 13.
Fumo will serve as an ideal role model for young CUFC players as a former Charlotte product. Ray grew up in Charlotte and attended Parkwood HS. During his tenure, he was a 3-time All-State selection on top of being named 2000 NC State Player of the Year and All-American the same year. He also spent two years with the US Youth National team. From there, Fumo was a three year starter at UNC-Chapel Hill where he was part of the 2001 National Championship team with fellow CUFC director Grant Porter. He also captained the Tar Heels his senior season. He graduated from UNC with a double major in Economics and Management in 2005.
Following his college career, Fumo served as an assistant coach at UNC-Pembroke while working towards and earning a master’s degree in Sports Management. After finishing his master’s, Ray went to Germany and played professionally for FC Pforzheim. Upon returning to CSC, Fumo worked with both boys and girls as well as working with the NC ODP program. He currently holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma coaching badge.

Ian grew up in South Yorkshire, England and came to the U.S. in 1989 to play college soccer at UNC Charlotte. While there, he captained the team during the 1992 and ’93 seasons. In 1992, he received both the team’s “Most Valuable Player Award” and also the “David Schlee Award” for showing the most desire to succeed. Ian was also an “Academic All American Scholar Athlete” and a UNC Charlotte “Outstanding Senior” in 1993.
He is currently in his fifteenth year as an 8th grade English teacher, varsity coach, and student advisor at Charlotte Country Day School (CCDS). During his time at CCDS he has received the “Faculty Exceptional Performance Award” in 2000, and the “Carl Bolick Coach’s Award” in 2001. As coach of both the varsity boys’ and girls’ teams, he has been recognized three times as the North Carolina Independent Schools’ “Coach of the Year.” His girls’ team has played in three state championship games, winning in 2006.
Ian received his USSF ‘A’ License in 2005 and the USSF “Bob McNulty Award” for his commitment to teaching the game in 2003. He served as CUFC’s first girls’ program director from 1997-2002 and coached the program’s first girls’ team, then known as the USRSA Lightening ‘82’s from 1997-2001.

Michael Magno joined CUFC in 2003. During his time with CUFC he has been able to complete the certification for the U.S.S.F. A License. Michael is also an experienced educator and holds a Masters in Education.
He has coached at every level of CUFC, including Challenge, Classic A, B, and Premier. Michael is also a teacher and coach at Providence Day School, currently serving as Coach Bill Finneyfrock’s assistant varsity coach. The varsity program has had a long history of success including two State Finals and two State Semi-Finals, eight Conference Championships, two All-Americans, and two NC Player of the Year recipients. Michael has coached at CUFC in the older age groups including a state championship with the 93' Boys in 2010 and a final-four appearance with the 89’ Boys team in 2006. Prior to coming to Charlotte Michael was a head coach in Miami, FL serving as a head coach for four years in the public school system. He has been an assistant coach for two division I university men’s soccer programs, DePaul University and Florida International University.
As a player Michael was an All-Conference, All-State goalkeeper and two-time Florida State Champion at Miami Killian Senior. He went on to play at DePaul University in Chicago,IL where he left with several career goalkeeping records including a current record of career saves. After playing and coaching at DePaul University Michael returned to Miami,FL to play professionally in the U.S.L. with the Miami Beach Breakers. While with the Breakers Michael was the captain and starting goalkeeper in the inaugural season. In his second season with the Breakers he was able to lead the team to a first place regular season finish in the 3-D region.

Kevin is in his fifth year with Charlotte United. Originally from Liverpool England, Kevin played semi professional for 10 years. He was a player / coach for last 2 years in England and moved to the States in 1998. Kevin coached Jesuit High school (Tampa, FL) making it to the state finals three years running and winning it two out of the three years. The third year Jesuit high school soccer team was nationally ranked #1. Kevin also coached club soccer in Florida for 2 years. He and his family moved to Charlotte in 2001. His 89 team won State Cup in 2004/05 season. Kevin is one of four Directors at Charlotte United with their USSF A license.
Kevin is also the assistant coach for the Charlotte Eagles and has been involved with the Eagles since early 2003,winning the National Div 2 championship in 2005/06 season. Kevin resides in Charlotte with his wife Elaine and has a daughter Angela who now lives in New York. Angela is a national anthem singer for the Charlotte Eagles and many of the other pro teams in town.
His over 40 team has also won State Cup for the last two years and been in the National Final.

Vance in his youth played in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) as a provincial and national junior. He has coached for twenty three years in the United States at the classic, challenge and school levels. His teams have always produced a very high winning percentage. Some of these have been at high profile tournaments, State and regional levels of competition. These teams have produced a good number of athletes that have played at State Olympic Development, regional and national levels.
In 2003 he was approached to take the position of Director of Coaching (Challenge) for the CSC Siskey YMCA. This program grew from three challenge teams to twenty one at the tryouts in 2006. During it’s existence this program produced numerous tournament Champions, City Cup Champions, and State Champions.

Sean joined Charlotte United FC during the summer of 2008. Sean is a former Director of Coaching for the CSC Siskey Challenge Soccer program, helping start and grow the program alongside his father Vance. Over the years they built arguable one of the strongest challenge programs in the area. The program won numerous league and tournament titles as well as many City Cups and State Championships.
As a DOC/Coach Sean has played his part in over twenty City Cups, five State Championships, a CASL Shootout Championship and a Finalist, a Jefferson Cup Championship, along with many local Tourney championships and tournaments around the Southeast. Sean has also worked with older men’s and women’s classic teams, coaching teams to be very successful in some of the major college showcase tournaments around the south.
Sean holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma coaching badge along with a USSF National Youth License, a license that targets players from ages six to twelve years old.

Eric Hedinger, or “H” as he is often called, has been with CUFC since 2000. As a CUFC coach he earned his USSF B License.
He has coached on several levels of soccer. He currently coaches the Girls Varsity Soccer Team at Providence Day School, where he has been since 1997. He has been recognized as a NCAIS Coach of the Year in 2002. As an assistant coach along side of Bill Finneyfrock, Eric helped the Providence Day School men’s soccer team in their achievement of four NCAIS State Championships and reaching a national ranking. Prior to Providence Day School, Eric was an assistant coach and keeper trainer for the men’s soccer program at Winthrop University. He has coached for South Carolina ODP and been involved in the development of goalkeeping curriculum for camps, soccer programs, and clubs alike. As a CUFC coach he has worked with the keepers every year to maintain a keeper curriculum addressing all aspects of the modern keeper. In addition, he has been a team coach of nearly all levels and ages of CUFC players.
On the field, Eric playerd keeper for St. Mark’s High School where he captained the team to two Delaware State Championships in 1997 and 1998. He earned All-Conference and All-State honors both years. As a collegiate player, Eric played for Dominican College in New York. He, again, led his team to the District 9 Championship, losing in the Region 12 finals in 1990. He received All-District, All-Conference and All-American honors as a collegiate player, too. Eric went on to play keeper from 1992-1993 in the U.S.I.S.L. (United States Interregional Soccer League) which started as a professional grass roots soccer league after the U.S. lived without professional soccer for nearly ten years.

Charlotte United is pleased to once again have John Pietak join their staff as Director of Coaching - CUFC North. John served as United's past Youth and Technical Director and is well known throughout the region for developing outstanding players and teams who perform at the highest levels of Challenge, Classic and Premier. Several of his past United teams enjoyed success in state cup play, with two winning state championships and a third as a state finalist.
John is originally from Rochester, NY where he earned First Team All-American honors in 1981 for State Champion Greece Arcadia High School. John also won a club state championship with the Rochester Scorpions that same year. John went on to finish his college playing career at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC where he became a three time NAIA All-American in helping Catawba win three district and conference championships. He went on to earn his Masters in Education at Columbia International University. See below for John's Player Honors and Coaching Credentials.
John continues to instill his creative attacking style of play in the youth players and teams through his Creative Player Coaching Vision a leading youth development learning system for young emerging players. John brings an incredible passion for player development and has coached successfully at every level of youth and scholastic soccer.
United is pleased that John will be directing Charlotte United North with its University City and Harrisburg Road locations. In addition, John will be starting United's first recreation program along with challenge and classic offerings out of the new Harrisburg Road facility.

Sean joined Charlotte United during the 2009-10 season as a Classic Coach with the U12 girls. Shortly thereafter, Sean take on the responsibility as Office & Store Manager for Charlotte United.
Sean was born in Denver, Colorado, but was raised in Gastonia, North Carolina. He played with Gaston United from U11 - U13 and then Charlotte Soccer Club from U14 - U19. He attended and played for Forestview High School, which prepared him well for Appalachian State.
At Appalachian State, Sean continued playing where he was Team Captain, Team MVP and earned second team All-Conference in 2007. After graduating with a Bachelor in Business Administration he continued playing with the Carolina Railhawks.
