Date Posted: 12/18/2012
Thank you all for being part of the Charlotte United Futbol Club family. The Fall season has now come to a close. I am pleased to share with you our successes on the field, progress in developing and improving the service we provide to you and welcome new staff members to CUFC.
Our staff is committed to providing the best possible developmental environment for all our players and we look forward to a great spring season.
U15-18 Classic Boys Program
The highlight for our boy’s program this year was our U18 boys winning State Cup and going on to reach the semi- finals of Regional Cup. This is a great achievement as it is the first time that a CUFC team has reached this stage of the competition.
U15-18 Classic Girls Program
The U18 Gold team finished Premier League runner up on goal difference.
The Division One U18 Green team had a great season and finished in a three way tie for first place in the First Division. They were also President’s Kepner Cup State Finalists. Many of the girls in our U18 teams have been with CUFC since U10. It is very rewarding to our staff to see these girls have a great final season with CUFC.
The U16 Green team finished first in Division 1. This earns them a place in the Premier Division next year.
The U15 Green team finished second in Division 1 and also advanced to the President’s Kepner Cup Final Four.
We also held our first U15 through U18 Girls’ College Combine event on December 16th at The Palisades. Ten college coaches attended representing all collegiate divisions: D1, D2, D3, and NAIA.
U11-14 Boys and Girls Classic Program
The U11-14 boys and girls teams had numerous successes in league and tournament play.
U14 boy’s gold-Maps Cup tournament champions and Premier League Champions.
U14 boys green-promoted to Premier Division.
U13 boys gold and green promoted to Open Elite Division.
U14 girls gold-finished third in the Disney Showcase.
U12 girl’s gold- Wags and CASL tournament champions.
U14 green, U12 copper, silver, U11 black and white girls and the U11 gold, white and silver boys also had tournament success.
The U13-14 boys and girls teams are also competing in the US Club National Premier League. The first event was held at The Palisades on Dec. 7th & 8th. The NPL has been created to provide a unified, league-based national developmental platform with the highest level of competition in given geographic areas.
U9-U10 Academy Program
We currently have 40 teams. Our Academy Program provides U9-10 players with a developmentally appropriate and enjoyable environment where they are encouraged to be creative and try the skills learned at practice.
U7-8 Pre Academy Program
The U7-8 program is in its second year. A total of 50 girls and boys registered for the first year of play. We now have 100 players and expect the program to continue to grow. Players interested in joining the program can register for the assessment sessions to be held in January. Details can be found on our website.
One 7 Program
One7 is a group formed to help refugees and at risk inner city kids.
The vision of One7 is to reach and transform inner city communities and families by intentionally forming cross cultural youth ministry teams while focusing on holistic change and spiritual growth. One of those avenues is the sport of soccer, which so many of the kids play with passion. Currently One7 has three competitive soccer teams. Players are given the opportunity to grow and learn as a team through the sport of soccer.
Charlotte United is pleased to assist in providing these young men with the opportunity to play soccer by bringing them under the CUFC family umbrella. The One7 teams are registered and supported by CUFC.
We are so proud of the fact that earlier this year, the boy’s U17 team won the US Club Soccer National Championship.
At CUFC we value the importance of coach education. 5 of our coaches attended coaching education courses this year.
Additionally, in June we were privileged to have guest coach Bob Gansler hold a coaching clinic for the CUFC staff.
Bob is one of the best coach educators in the USA. He was previously the United States Soccer Federation Technical Director, US National team Coach, and MLS coach at Kansas.
