Ryan Fine and John Kendall, both of CUFC 93 Gold, are headed to Phoenix, AZ with the NC 1994 ODP (Olympic Development Program) team to compete in the 2010 ODP National Championships from March 10 - 14.
The NC 1994 ODP boys road to the national championship began during the summer of 2009 where North Carolina qualified for the regional championships during Region III ODP camp. In January, the 94 boys headed to New Orleans to take on the best of the region. After winning the region, they now have an opportunity to compete with the top four ODP teams from across the country.
Playing a final four format, the North Carolina boys will play the Region I champions - New York East - on Friday, March 12. The winner of that match will play the winner of the Region II (Iowa) and Region IV (Southern California) match on Sunday, March 14. The other two teams will play in a 3rd place match on Sunday, March 14 as well. Click Here for more information on the ODP National Championships.
"John & Ryan have worked incredibly hard for this opportunity. With a great undefeated start to the Premier league season for the 93 Gold, the trip to Phoenix will be a great opportunity for them to take a break from league play, while still competing against some of the best in the country." states Michael Magno, Director of Coaching - U16-18 Boys & 93 Gold Coach. "Both of these players have joined ODP from different angles - Ryan has been a stalwart on the NC ODP team for the past four years; John took the plunge into ODP for the first time this year. Thankfully our team has the weekend off so John and Ryan can enjoy their trip without missing a beat with our club team. We obviously wish them well as they represent Charlotte United and North Carolina."
